Connie Bowen has always loved to draw, and she majored in art at Washington State University. She began creating children's books five years ago with I Believe in Me, which was inspired by her son Matthew and which won a national Athena Award for Excellence in Mentoring. She works in colored pencil combined with pen and ink. Connie was a court reporter before pursuing her art career full-time. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband Mike and son.
